BEGIN

BEGIN combines fasting, exercise, supplements, AI meal planning and hydration in one app. We designed and built it, with intake limits enforced in the product rather than in a disclaimer.

[03] The client

What they do

BEGIN is a five-module consumer wellness app — smart intermittent fasting, exercise tracking, supplement management, AI meal planning and hydration monitoring — with the AI concentrated in meal planning.

[04] The problem

What it was costing them

AI meal plans plus fasting plus tracking will be used by people with disordered eating, whatever the intended audience.

That made the design questions real. Does the meal planner hold a minimum intake floor? Can someone set an unbounded fasting window? What happens when logged intake drops sharply?

There are regulatory edges too: health claims fall under ASA rules, and some functionality can push a product towards MHRA medical device classification.

[05] What we did

The work

We put the guardrails into the product's logic rather than its copy, so limits hold whether or not anyone reads the warning.

We designed the five modules as one experience, so fasting, intake and activity are read together rather than as separate scores users can play off against each other.
